As the chap before me states these books are not essential and yes all the information is out there somewhere, but im a sucker for a good strategy/informational guidebook and this is a really well done one.

The cover pic, well i might have chosen something different but it is nicely finished, in a similar style to the cover of the Official WoW magazine which dropped through my door the other day.

To an experienced raiding guild some of the content will already be redundant but it is so well presented its worth just browsing through.

Also Naxxramas which was covered in DCII has been redone along with some others.

Lots of lovely artwork and ive already found it useful (finally got through Halls of Stone last night, after reading up on it).

No im not an uberpowered overgeared hyperactive teenage Uldar raider (you know who you are)but i am a Guildmaster and i find these books very useful just for when someone asks a question in game its easy to just reach for this rather than logging to another website.

All in all if you dont ever buy strategy guides you wont buy this, but if you found it lying around at your mates house i bet youd sneak a peek.

And thumbs up to Amazon for getting it to me in the recent bad weather we had, in mint condition.

This is the third in the series and is the most involved of the lot (I’ve got the other two and have read them to death). I’m very impressed with this one. Particularly useful are the sections on gearing up for heroics which are really useful. The guide tracks a tremendous amount of information and does it well (such as little box-out sections for strategies to hit the various achievements in each instance).

It looks good too – lots of great shots of the bosses. The cover art is hilarious.

Yes, a lot of this information is available online if you can be bothered to dig, but as an easy-to-read repository, it’s going to be hard to beat.

If you are buying this book then you already know abit about world of warcraft from the previous volumes. If you are like me and have just got your first character to lvl 80 then all the information needed to do heroic dungeons, to get epic gear for the character spec, and how to get the best out of your gear before you go through with all raids. As you know to do a raid there are a lot of expectations to new people!!! If you where like me I couldn’t do anything because I was inexperienced and no-one would let me join. I bought this to get more insight into raids so I wasn’t a liability to the group. All the information I needed about the different tactics for bosses was there. It’s easy to find which raid you are doing with the contents and it is easily read, I normally join the group and have a quick read through while we put a group together. The presentation of the contents is real snazzy…it gives a brief intro about who is needed for the group and also where to find the entrance to the raid. It has plenty of screen shots while going into detail and what needs to be done. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone. I am still not a strong raider but I have only had this a month now and it has helped me out with everything I need to know about turning lvl 80. This is the best purchase I have made on Amazon and I will continue to develop my characters with this book until the next expansion…don’t delay remember there are a lot of expectations for characters. Good luck to people who have bought this you are one step closer to being a better raider.

    Regards

    Martin

This is the third companion for the World of Wracraft dungeons and raid encounters. The companion gives you an in depth break down of all areas such as Utgarde keep to Ulduar. This book also has the Sunwell Plateau encounter that was missed off the vol 2 version due to publication/patch release. Moreover, this version is missing some of the Icecrown Citedal raid information due to the same reason. No lich King fight information is listed.

Even with the omittance of ICC, this book is a wealth of information that the gamer levelling a character through northrend would need. Buy it now.

As others have already stated in their reviews, if you are buying this book strictly to get the information on the latest dungeons (it covers from the latterly introduced Burning Crusade through to Wrath of the Lich King, exclusing the latest 3.3 ones), then all the information is already out there on the various WOW strategy sites and wikis.

However, where this really scores is in the thought and detail that has gone into making this a really beautiful book to read and it is from this point of view that I have given it five stars. It is worth buying for the artwork alone even if you already know all the dungeons.
